Some say (mainly Ma Kettle) that Telluride is too "vertical" for hiking. Balderdash!! We took to those hills like mountain goats(1). Everyone must hike to the top of Bridal Veil Falls, a leisurely stroll of 1.8 miles with a 1200 ft. elevation gain.
Of course, there are other hikes available. Routes that offer the mind a time to relax and contemplate family and friends you haven't talked with lately.
One
must always plan for a little sustenance after a strenuous hike. We seemed
to gravitate to Smuggler's Brewpub & Grille who have discovered the
first reasonable use for chair lifts!!
