Merry Christmas

Dear Family and Friends, Another year to wish all of you the blessings of the Lord, for He is Good. And this is the year for the favor of the Lord. We are pleased to share that Christy Schmidt will be a part of our family in May of 2002. She grew up in Kennewick and her parents, AJ and Mike live outside of Richland. Jeff and Christy plan to marry in Hawaii, and then honeymoon in Europe. Jeff and Christy recently went to Viet Nam to attend a family wedding. Joel and Carrie moved to the Bay area while Carrie attends Graphic Arts School. We see them off and on because Joel returns to Reno to DJ at Reno Live. And we love to baby-sit the grand dog, Bodhi. Joel will be here New Years’ Eve organizing an event at Reno Live. Our group picture is taken on the deck of our back yard last May. Aaron, kneeling by Bohdi, is Jeff and Christy’s friend who came for R&R. We did a little hiking , boating and camping up at Lake Tahoe. God really outdid himself in the Sierras. Bruce and I enjoyed some snow shoeing up at the Lake in wintertime. Usually the reward is a view of the lake and lunch. We still bike some. Bruce has seriously biked around Reno putting on over l,000 miles this year. Tennis also keeps him occupied and very fit. I made two trips this year – one to Portland for a prayer conference, which is so big they have to hold two sessions to the tune of 6,000 people. I met up with Carolyn Schmekel about three times while there which was a miracle as there were people from Reno I never saw. My other wonderful trip was to Washington DC where Nellie Butler and I attended National Day of Prayer functions, Strategic Prayer Network events. We toured one day including seeing our representative and Senator Harry Reid on the Senate Floor. Sitting, facing the capitol steps while it turned dark, looking up to see the Capitol lit up with the American flag flying high was breathtaking. We met with some of the awesome Christians who live and pray for our Capitol in groups weekly. They admitted how hard it was to persevere. We must continue to seek God to protect and guide us, our only hope. Bruce and I traveled to San Francisco twice with friends to walk the streets and sample the food and scenery. We enjoy jazz and perhaps a play. Nice to get away. Saw Mom, Dennis, Bonnie, Patsy & Larry & family last month while attending a seminar. It was a very pleasant visit. Saw McKinley perfecting her walk. Just great to be with family. Hoping they will consider a get-together in Reno-Tahoe area. Don’t forget the reason for the Season. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came to earth to reconcile us to God. He was victorious and will come again. Thank you, Father. Love, Bruce and Jan
