Merry Christmas,
From our house to yours, may you have the peace of Jesus as we celebrate this wondrous time of year.
No play this year for Jan. But she continues to dance and improve her skills. Marie Holt, a church friend, and Jan present the gospel and dance every third Sunday at the nursing home where Jan works. She also takes lessons at a studio, blocks from our home, and dances with a multi-church group.
Jan went to work at Life Care Center in Reno last year. She enjoys ministering to elders and praying for them when the opportunity arises. Night shift seems to be less demanding, so Monday and Tuesday nights are taken.
Bruce continues to bike 100 miles every week, except lately. We have had winds and some rain and snow already. And it has been nippy too. But he usually bikes year round. His friend, up the street, joins him as does Jan and a tennis player (Katie is 72 and got her first mountain bike at 70 years of age). We have fun going in all directions here in the Truckee Meadows.
Bruce is the gardener (roses in the corner, and tomatoes and a grapevine), he maintains things around the house, and prides himself on shopping for us. Bruce enjoys his laptop every day, listens to "tunes" every day. And makes sure he still sees live jazz in Oakland, San Francisco, and UC Davis at the Mondavi Center. We just recently took the California Zephyr train over the Sierras to UC Davis to hear Dianne Reeves sing a Christmas concert. The Mondavi Center is beautiful and was spared no expense in the building. Bruce has been to three concerts there, while Jan went along for two of them.
We go with friends to San Francisco about twice a year to hear jazz.
Bruce also planned a getaway for us on the Mendocino Coast. We visited the Anderson Valley wineries, stayed at a fancy spa and resort on the coast, and generally enjoyed the ocean.
The McNutt clan is still getting together once a year taking turns at one another’s houses. Last summer was in Minneapolis with Dennis and Claudia and their family. A wonderful time was had by all and included Aunt Olive and Cousin Mark. One night we ate at a German restaurant and did the polka afterwards. Fun, Fun!!!
Jan visited her mother in Kennewick at a Life Care Center last summer. We celebrated her life in November after she went home to be with the Lord. Patsy, Jan’s sister, who lives in Richland had the forethought a couple years ago to have Mom plan her church service. She had the songs she wanted, the singers she wanted, and of course piano and organist from the Methodist Church in Benton City. The church was full, and the people there learned a little more about Martha McNutt from her children who rose up to call her blessed.
Life is good to Bruce and I. We plan to spend Christmas with our son Jeff and daughter-in-law Christy in Seattle. They have a puppy, a Border Collie, Bandit. Pictures of her have already won our hearts. Jeff’s cat, Renoir, nearly made it to 20 years. He went to heaven to be with grandma right after she went.
Joel is living in Reno, and we enjoy visits from him and his girlfriend, Kara. They had Thanksgiving with us and will have a late Christmas with us when we return. Joel continues to spins records as a DJ at various clubs in Reno. Kara is also talented in the arts.
We wish all of our family and friends a happy and blessed New Year.
Jan and Bruce Wyborny
